Species Range
- Present across much of India, extending from east to near Rauualpindi, Pakistan.
- Present also in Sri Lanka and the island of Rameswaram.
Gender
- Males are predominantly green, leading to a yellower hue in the vicinity of the mantle as in the lower body.
- The head is colored plum, with a bluish-purple hue visible at the bottom of the cheeks.
- The chin is black and a wide line of the same color stretches across the cheeks bottom.
- The rump is also teal. The longer central feathers of the tail are blue with white highlights extremes.
- The beak is pale orange in the upper jaw and brownish black on the bottom.
- Grayish legs.
- Yellowish white iris.
- The female can be distinguished from the males because their gray heads witch are more pure hue of gray on the forehead and on the cheeks.
youth
- Their greenhead, which are sometimes nuanced gray around the cheeks.
- After its first molt, the juveniles resemble adult females as far as color is concerned.
