Species Range

  • Present throughout a large area of Australia, it can be found in the northern region as well as in the east and south-west.

Gender

  • The males are predominantly black with a slight chestnut hue that extends to the neck and neck as well as the upper part of the chest.
  • The central tail feathers are black while the lateral feathers have a large red area in the longitudinal direction and end in a black end.
  • The beak is gray
  • Legs brownish gray
  • Dark brown irises
  • The females can be recognized by their brownish black plumage with a profusion of yellow speckles that extend through the head and neck down the wing coverts and reaches the primaries.
  • The feathers of the chest and abdomen are black with a pale orange-yellow rim.
  • The bill is bony in color.

Youth

  • A females but more paid.
  • The difference in the coloration of peri-ophthalmic skin between the sexes does not apply. however, the presence of something gray may be appreciated in the peaks of young males.
