Species Range
- Ceram, Haruku and Saparua Islands, part of the Maluku Group in Indonesia. It has also been sighted in the neighboring island of Ambon.
Gender
- Similar in the coloring of their plumage.
- Males have a different appearance, from a light pink (almost white) to a darker pink.
- Crest feathers, large and wide, are a pink-salmon color, curved to the back when erect.
- The lower surface of the tail feathers is a combination of pink and orange-yellow.
- The bare skin of the eye ring is white, on occasion with blue hues.
- Black beak.
- Dark gray feet.
- Black iris.
- Females are usually recognized by the dark brown coloring of their iris.
youth
- Similar to the adults, but with dark gray iris when they leave the nest.
