Species Range

  • Found in Tanimbar Islands, and also in Tual, part of the Kei Islands of Indonesia.

Gender

  • Similar in the coloring of their plumage.
  • White is predominant in males, with a light yellow wash toward the ears.
  • They have a pink-salmon tint at the base of the head feathers and the eye ring.
  • The lower surfaces of flight and tail wings have a yellow wash.
  • The bare skin of the eye ring is white, as well as the crest feathers, even though in this species the crest is not too evident.
  • White-gray beak.
  • Gray feet.
  • Black-brown iris.
  • Females are usually distinguished by the brown color of their iris, but good light is required to see this; the difference is less distinctive than in most cockatoos.
  • The skin of the eye ring is also smaller in some cases.

  • Similar to the adults, but recognizable by their brown iris.
